My name is Ava Grey, and I am the founder of Bloom. I am 15 years old and a rising sophomore at Lincoln High School. My mom and uncle work in the luxury wedding industry, and I have been fortunate to work with them around the country doing incredible weddings for the kindest people. At the end of each event, gorgeous flowers get thrown out, making me think there has to be a better way to preserve the beauty of the flowers. What if I could take the flowers to those working through challenging circumstances and bring a smile to their day with a beautiful flower delivery? That is where the idea for Bloom well bloomed! At the end of weddings, parties, galas, auctions, and more, I collect centerpieces, put them in cereal bowls I purchase with my allowance, and take them to local transitional housing for mothers and children coming out of homelessness. Once the flowers die, the bowls are donated to the housing to use as they see fit (hopefully for a good bowl of cereal because who doesn’t love that?).
